The new buzz in Salt Lake City is the opening of our new prize possession, the City Creek Mall. In the very center of our downtown atmosphere, this new mall allows Utahans to shop at stores that before were not available. Some of these stores include: Nordstrom’s, Tiffany’s & Co., Michael Kors, Macy’s, Love Culture, H&M. That is most likely the reason the mall has been so packed. Not to forget to mention that the mall really is a beautiful site. It has a retractable roof so the mall has the option to be indoor and outdoor. There is a creek running through the center, hence the name, City Creek.  Having these higher end stores in down town Salt Lake affects our image as a state for the better.   “It shows that we [Utah] care about cleanliness and that we can do a project that big,” Sarah Hicks a Woods Cross senior said.

Some people even think that the new mall with eventually replace Gateway completely. “I like it a lot more than gateway because there are other stores, and I got sick of the ones at the Gateway,” Tanner Peck exclaimed! But others won’t change in their ways and prefer Gateway to City Creek. A big factor contributing to this is the fact that the mall is owned by the Church of Latter Day Saints they have a dress code fitting their Church standards which is totally understandable. To Non-members of this religion it could be offensive. Not to mention that the mall sells clothes that they wouldn’t allow people to wear in their own mall…. Kolbie Cheney told us, “It is dumb that they won’t let people wear what they want. They shouldn’t kick people out and judge them for what they wear.” Others can’t really decide if they like City Creek. “I think it is better than Gateway is better in some ways and City Creek is better in other ways. City Creek has more Mall cops and its cleaner. I don’t like it because there are more high end shops that the middle class can’t really afford.” Sarah Hicks also told us. Whether you prefer City Creek to Gateway is totally up to you. But one thing is for certain, uou have to go check out Utah’s newest attraction!
