The Wildcats started out the year with a preseason record of 3-3. By going into the season with an equal number of wins and losses, the Wildcats were questioning their season. However, the Wildcats made the most of it by starting the season with a couple wins! The Cats then faced a tough lose against the top ranked East High Leopards. Despite the loss, the Wildcats were able to come up with two more wins before dropping a game to their rivals, the Bountiful Braves. This ended the first half of the season with the Wildcats, with a record of 3-2.

The Wildcats came out strong in the second half of the season beating Cyprus and the number one ranked East High. However, the Cats suffered a tough loss, with all the odds against them, despite the unfair officiating, and the extremely small field, the Cats lost to Clearfield. Despite losing to Clearfield, the Wildcats crushed the Highland High Rams, 4-1. Coming off of a big win, the Cats  went on to face their rivals, the Bountiful Braves.

The Wildcats played their last season game against the Bountiful Braves on Tuesday. The Cats came out strong; Ethan Cope scored a goal only 7 minutes in to the game, putting the Cats ahead. Leo Calquin then scored the second goal for the Cats, followed by a third goal from Justin Ward. The Wildcats were in the lead 3-0 at half time. However, come the second half of the game, the Officials decided to favor the Braves, giving them a penalty kick, making the score 3-1. On the other hand, the Cats were quick to come back, when Leo Calquin slid another goal past the Braves to make the score 4-1. The game came to an end after the Braves were given another penalty kick, leaving the final score 4-2. With the win against the Braves, the Wildcats clinched 2nd in region, and were able to secure home field advantage for the first round of the State Playoffs.

The Woods Cross Wildcats finished the season with 10 wins and 6 loses. The Wildcats out shot their opponents 276-146, almost doubled!  The Wildcats have scored 43 goals total. They have 3 players on the state individual goal scorers list, Ethan Cope is tied for 1st, Leo Calquin is tied for 3rd, and Justin Ward is tied for 8th. The Teams Stats are as follows:  Justin Ward has 7 goals and 11 assists. Matt Cunningham has 2 assists. Joe Wesseman has 2 assists. Leo Calquin has 14 goals and 5 assists. Eric Mangelson has 2 goals 2 assists. Corbin Jones has 1 goal 1 assist. Trent Madsen has 2 Goals. Zach Checkettes has 2 assists. Ethan Cope has 16 goals and 2 assists. Thomas Fisher has 1 assist and 1 goal save. Taylor Kennard has 2 goal saves. Dalan Cole has 1 assist and 2 goal saves. Nick Elg has 3 assists and 1 goal save. Truman Ballard has 142 goal saves. Cody Perry has 1 assist and 8 goal saves. As you can see, the Wildcats have very impressive stats, putting them in a strong position for the State Playoffs.

The Woods Cross Boys Soccer team is now preparing for the State Playoffs; the Wildcats will play the Timpanogos Timberwolves, on Wednesday May 16, at Woods Cross High School. Be sure to come out and support the Wildcats in their first State Playoff game!
