The boy’s soccer team started the year on a high note, winning their first preseason game against Copper Hills. They went on to lose three games in a row against very good teams, Bonneville, Viewmont, and Weber. They ended the losing streak by winning Freemont and Logan.
The team opened our Region play against Cyprus in a dominating fashion with a 5-2 victory behind three second half goals. Ethan Cope had a hat trick, and Corbin Jones and Justin Ward both netted a goal. Later that week the team played at East. They lost the game 0-3, but the team played well.
The next Region match was against Clearfield, who had a perfect preseason, and allowing only four goals in six games and scoring fourteen goals in those six games. We won the game 3-1, with two goals behind Leo Calquin. The Deseret News deemed it a surprising victory for the team.
Yesterday they played Highland, who has had a rough year only having two wins including preseason against Judge Memorial and Cyprus. They got out of the gates a little early in the game but Ethan Cope scored a goal near the end of the first half. Justin Ward then added one followed by another by Ethan.
The team is second in our Region behind East who has 12, points and we have 9 points. They have a huge match coming up on Friday against the Braves and we need everyone to be there to support the team! The game starts at 3:30 and will be Millcreek Jr. High.
